[OSEN=손남원 기자] Who will become YG’s next-generation rapper and lead the company’s future? Four rappers who are fiercely competing with one another in “WHO IS NEXT : WIN“ (WIN) are drawing much attention. “WIN” is YG’s survival show to select the members of its next-generation boy band which will be newly formed eight years after Big Bang’s debut.
Song Min Ho-Lee Seung Hoon and B.I-Bobby are at the center of the showdown. Team A’s lead rapper Song Min Ho and Lee Seung Hoon, and Team B’s lead rapper B.I (Kim Han Bin) and Bobby (Kim Ji Won) are staging their quick-fire raps, to win the future as YG artists, with their unique style and charm.
First, Team A’s Song Min Ho and Lee Seung Hoon create a harmony with their colorful tones, where Song’s low tone and Lee’s high tone coexist to make a very unique rap. On the other hand, Team B’s B.I and Bobby create a perfect combination as if B.I’s quick tempo and Bobby’s slow tempo are blended in a special style.
In the final result and judges’ evaluation for their first battle in episode 6 which was aired on September 27 (Friday), Team B won the competition, but Team A won the viewer’s vote. As the two teams had a neck-and-neck match, viewers are expressing high expectations for their second battle.Notably, in the first battle, Team A staged popular but unique performance of Taeyang’s “Only Look at Me” and “Wedding Dress”, where each member’s character was well-revealed. Team B presented a very different type of performance of G-Dragon’s “Crayon” and “One of a Kind”, in which the members’ perfect teamwork and YG’s flagship hip-hop style stood out.
Meanwhile, viewers of the show are paying keen attention to who will win the hearts and minds of the public and become the winner of the second battle, between the two teams both equipped with full talent and abilities as artists.
The show has been aired in more than 10 Asian countries starting from September 17 (Tuesday), on STAR TV’s cable subsidiary “Channel V” and CJ E&M’s Southeast Asian subsidiary “Channel M”. In China, it has been exclusively broadcasted on YOUKU, the biggest local video-streaming site and each of episode 1, 4, and 5 of the show has set the record of one million views.
Plus, from last week, “WIN” has been aired in 188 countries around the world on Arirang TV channel, attracting more viewers from the world. In Korea, “WIN” is broadcasted on every Friday on Mnet at 10pm and on tvN at 11:20pm.
